• THE GUBERNATORIAL RACE IS ON!
The end of the state budget process has marked the beginning of the gubernatorial race. Many questions related to
the 2010 gubernatorial election remain unanswered. Will Governor Doyle seek re-election? Who will the
candidates be? For related information, please visit The Arc-Wisconsin website at www.arc-wisconsin.org.
• SPEAKING OF THE STATE BUDGET……
The Arc-Wisconsin is developing a summary of the major disability provision that were included in the recently
approved biennial state budget. In addition to distributing the summary to Tuesday Morning Memo subscribers and
posting it on The Arc-Wisconsin website, we will send hard copies to all Arc members.

• THE ARC-WISCONSIN PLANS 60th ANNIVERSARY EVENTS AND PUBLICATIONS
It all began in 1949 with a small group of parents that wanted to get more toys to their children and the children of
others living at Southern Wisconsin Center in Union Grove. Virtually every positive development for people with
disabilities in Wisconsin has come about because of the active advocacy of parents and self-advocates.
On Friday, October 9th, The Arc-Wisconsin will host a special anniversary event at the Crowne Plaza in Madison.
Please mark your calendars.
Also, The Arc-Wisconsin plans to develop materials that will highlight the progress that has been made for people
with developmental disabilities in Wisconsin over the past 60 years. If you have historical information that might be
of interest to other developmental disability advocates, please contact Jim Hoegemeier at The Arc-Wisconsin –
arcwjim@att.net or (877) 272-8400, ext. 2 (toll-free in WI).
