Highlight of changes in 2009 HKCEE exam regulations


Below are highlights of the changes in the 2009 HKCEE :

1. Sitting the listening tests in the “Special Room”
Candidates who sit the listening tests in the “Special Room” must listen
to the radio broadcast through the ordinary radio provided in the room
and cannot use their own radio with earphones (details in p.35 of 2009
HKCEE handbook for candidates).

2. Calculators
Electronic calculators may be used in any examination session, except
for language subject examinations i.e., English Language, Chinese
Language, Putonghua and French (details in p.1 of 2009 HKCEE
handbook for candidates).

3. Barcode labels
Candidates are not allowed to remove any unused barcode labels from
the examination centre; otherwise, they may receive a mark penalty
(details in p.24 of 2009 HKCEE handbook for candidates).

4. Answer books and supplementary answer sheets
For the new design of answer books and supplementary answer sheets
(please refer to p.25 and 26 of 2009 HKCEE handbook for candidates),
candidates are required to mark the question number box on each
page and the cover of the answer books / supplementary answer
sheets before the end of the examination session. They will NOT be
given time after the “Time is up” announcement to mark the question
number boxes.

5. Full appeal
For Chinese Language, English Language and Putonghua, appeal
applications may be made on a subject or component basis (details in
p.27 of 2009 HKCEE handbook for candidates).
