TECHNICAL INFORMATION
The data source for these tables is the 2001 Dentist Workforce
Survey. The 2001 Dentist Workforce Survey was conducted by the
Wisconsin Division of Health Care Financing, Bureau of Health
Health Counts
Information, in cooperation with Wisconsin-licensed dentists.
Completion of the 2001 Dentist Workforce survey was required for
all Wisconsin-licensed dentists, pursuant to Chapter 153, Wis.
Stats.
in Wisconsin
The survey instrument was developed from previous dental surveys
and comments from a variety of sources, including the Wisconsin
Division of Health Care Financing, the Wisconsin Division of
New Findings from the Bureau of Health Information
Public Health, the Wisconsin Dental Association, the Southwest
Wisconsin Area Health Education Center, the Wisconsin Primary
Care Association, the Madison Area Technical College Health
Occupations Program, and the Marquette Dental School. Dentist
mailing addresses and other licensing data were obtained from the
Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing.
The surveys were mailed on March 23, 2001 and were due April
23, 2001. Dentists who did not return initial surveys were sent
follow-up mailings in May. The final response rate was 94 percent,
with 4,301 of 4,563 licensed dentists returning the survey.
