Animals on BRC Property
Dogs, cats and other pets will not be permitted on BRC property, including the grounds, with the exception of service animals and
animals that are used for bona fide research.

Vending machines are located on the first floor adjacent to the public elevators. An ATM machine is not planned for the building
at this time.

This is a very simple version of the Houston Fire Department/ International Building Code Flammable Material
Requirements. These quantities are based on a mix of flammable and combustible liquids. These quantities are per control area
not per professor or laboratory. The space occupied by Rice on each floor is considered a separate control area.

H Room- One 500 sq ft H room is provided per floor. This room has been supplied with a fume hood with a lower flammable storage cabinet; 4
flammable storage cabinets which hold a TOTAL of 120 gallons combined and open shelving. This is a shared space room. Maximum allowable

Food Areas/Restaurants (During the Month of August)
Two vending machines are located just inside the main entrance on Level 1.
Two non-Rice food service vehicles are stationed on Travis St., Monday–Friday from 12–12:30 p.m.
All student hub break rooms Levels 3-8 have two large refrigerators, two microwaves, a sink, and recycling bins.
Negotiations are underway to provide food service in the Café and Coffee Bar located on Level 2.

Mail Services and Deliveries

Check with your Department Administrator for procedures in place during the month of August.

Parking Garage
The Following Information was made available from the Rice University Parking and Transportation Department on 6/1/09.
Garage Hours of Operation –
Contract Parking: 24/7, 365 days per year
Visitor Parking: 6 a.m, –10 p.m. seven days a week,
*Rice University reserves the right to close the garage when necessary
Parking Office Hours of Operation –

6 a.m. –10 p.m. seven days a week; Rice University Police Controlled 10 p.m. – 6 a.m.

*Holiday hours may vary
Rates and Access for Rice Contract Parkers –
Faculty/Staff (F/S), and Graduate Students (GS) - $716 per year provides 24/7 access to BRC Garage as well as North
Lot and West Lot 1 for F/S, North Annex and West Lot 1 for GS.
Validations for Visitors –
As throughout campus, to obtain $7 validations, email parking@rice.edu.

The BRC parking garage will operate very similarly to the Central Campus Garage on campus. Contract/Tenant parking is on the
2nd and 3rd levels. Visitors and persons with disabilities (hangtags or plates) may use the 1st level. F/S may register two of their
own vehicles and GS may register one vehicle; only one vehicle per registration is allowed in the garage at any given time.

F/S and GS with valid parking permits and proxy cards on campus will be able to have access to the BRC garage after
6pm and on weekends, out by 7:30 a.m. Monday – Friday.

No overnight parking unless prior approval is obtained from the Rice Parking Office; contact parking@rice.edu or 713-
348-2020.

he security needs are the primary responsibility of BRC Property Management. Rice University security officers are on duty 24 hours a day,

seven days a week to monitor the needs of the tenants. BRC Security Guards Location: Security Desk just inside the University Blvd (East)
