ADMISSION OF FOREIGN STUDENTS TO UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS


Foreign applicants must have graduated from a secondary school equivalent to Turkish
secondary schools to be eligible to apply to programs at Anadolu University. Foreign student
admission is limited – the quota for each program is attached.

Citizens of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and those with dual citizenships one of
which is Turkish or Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus are not eligible to apply for
admission as a foreign student.

GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
1. A minimum standard score of 45.000 from Basic Learning Skills Test of Foreign
Student Exam (YÖS), or minimum score of 1100 from SAT 1. (Score received from
the Turkish Test will not be considered as a criterion for admission).
2. The scores received on YÖS are valid for 2 years. Applicants may apply with 2008 or
2009 scores.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES
The application date is between July 20 and August 5, 2009. The application form is available
on Anadolu University web page. The application must be filled in Turkish and must be
legible. The completed application form along with the documents specified below must be
submitted in person or mailed to “Öğrenci İşleri Daire Başkanlığı, Anadolu Üniversitesi,
Yunus Emre Kampusü, Öğrenci Merkezi, ESKİŞEHİR.” Late applications will not be
accepted. Anadolu University will not be responsible for any delays in the postal service.
Applications which do not include all the documents specified below will not be
considered.

1. Application form for foreign students (applicants may choose no more than 6
programs.)
2. In the application form you must indicate whether you are of Turkish descent.
3. An approved photocopy of results from 2008 or 2009 YÖS or SAT 1 Examinations
4. Photocopy of the translation of the passport into Turkish by consulates/notary public
5. 1 photograph (taken within the last 6 months, with a full front al view of face without
any type of hat or scarf, dark glasses or beard.)

6. Bank receipt of application fee (100.00 TL). Application fees must be deposited to
Vakıflar Bankası Anadolu Üniversitesi Bürosu Account Number 00158007295518815.
The receipt must include first and last name of the applicant. Application fee is not
refundable.

ADMISSION
Applicants will be admitted based on the results of 2008 or 2009 YÖS or SAT 1
Examinations, choice of program, and the requirements and quota specified in 2009 YÖS
Guidelines. Applicants may choose a maximum of 6 programs. The scores will be listed from
the highest to the lowest.

NOTIFICATION OF ADMISSION
Notification of admission will be mailed to the address indicated on the Anadolu University
Foreign Student Application Form. Therefore, applicants must ensure that the address is
correct and complete. The results will also be announced at http://www.anadolu.edu.tr The
original YÖS document must be presented at registration.

Additional admission, due to unfilled quota, will not be done.


REGISTRATION PROCEDURES
The following documents must be submitted during registration.
1. Original YÖS Document
2. Passport with a valid visa for education purposes (with Turkish translation) (Visa for
education may be obtained from Turkish Embassies or Consulates abroad, or from the
City Police Departments in Turkey. A photocopy of the passport will be required at
registration.)
3. Official approval of secondary school diploma equivalency. The equivalency approval
is given by the Ministry of Education of the Turkish Republic. For the official
approval of equivalency, contact “Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı, Talim ve Terbiye kurulu
Başkanlığı, Teknikokullar, ANKARA”, or Ministry of Education offices in the
Turkish cities. The following is required for approval: (a) Secondary school diploma
and (b) transcript with the number of hours and grades received for each course.
4. Declaration of residence (After the completion of the registration process, the student
shall apply to the Police Headquarters with the Student Identification Document and

submit the certificate of residence which she/he will receive subsequently to her/his
deparment.
5. 12 color photographs (4,5x6 cm) taken within the last 6 months, with a full front view
of your face. Photographs must be taken in normal street attire, without any type of hat
or scarf, dark glasses, or beard.
6. Bank receipt of tuition payment. The amount of tuition will be announced at a later
date on http://www.anadolu.edu.tr .Students may have access to this site with the
student identification number given by Anadolu University. Students must deposit the
specified amount to Vakıfbank (account number indicated above) before registration
and submit the receipt at registration.

RULES AND CONDITIONS FOR REGISTRATION
a. Registration must be done in person. Registration through mail is not accepted.
b. Required documents must be originals. Official or unofficial photocopies of the
documents are not accepted.
c. All the required documents must be submitted at registration. Students missing one or
more required documents cannot register.
d. Registration must be done during the registration dates. Late registration is not
accepted.
e. It is recommended that students purchase health insurance valid in Turkey. Foreign
students are responsible for the cost of medical care not covered by the University.

TURKISH SCORES
The score received on the Turkish exam will determine whether an admitted student may
begin his/her university education immediately.

A Level: Proficient in Turkish (They may begin their university education immediately)
B Level: Sufficient but needs improvement (they are expected to improve their Turkish
during their university education)
C Level: Not proficient in Turkish (They will be given one year to improve their Turkish.
They must prove their proficiency in Turkish to be able to continue their university
education.)


Students who are not proficient in Turkish (C Level) must register to Anadolu University for
the 2009-2010 academic year and request leave of absence for one year to improve their
Turkish.
