Sailor Moon - Episode 41: “The Return of Sailor Moon”
(Before we begin this new saga, let's review the beginning of this whole business.)
Narrator
“A thousand years ago, our Moon was home to a great civilization ruled by Queen
Serenity. Everthing was peaceful until the arrival of the evil Queen Beryl.”

“Ha ha ha! First, the Moon shall be mine. Then, the Universe!”

Narrator
“To conquer the Moon, Queen Beryl unleashed the awesome power of the Negaforce.
Although her world was destroyed, Queen Serenity's last hope was the power of the
Imperium Silver Crystal and the Crescent Moon Wand.”
Queen Serenity
“Only this crystal and wand can combat the power of the Negaforce. Never let our
enemies get them, or the Universe is doomed, but most of all, protect our dear Princess
Serena. Understand?”
Luna & Artemis
“Yes.”
Narrator
“Frozen in Moon Beam Crystals, the queen sent the princess and the children of the Moon
to the future, on Earth, but their peace was not to last. Evil Queen Beryl followed them,
and in a fantastic battle, Sailor Moon banished Beryl.”
(We recall that last battle, where the true power of the crystal was once again unleashed and Queen Beryl was
banished to the Negaverse.)
Narrator
“But all Sailor Moon's memories of that heroic fight were lost, and now she's just a normal
teenager, but not for long. The Negaforce is already sending an evil new enemy to Earth.
And so, our story begins…”

(Serena is late for school again.)
Serena
“AAAAAH! Late again! Why can't school start on a reasonable hour, say in the…”
(She trips.)
Serena
“AAAAAH!”
Sammy
“Hey, Serena! You klutzoid, you forgot your bookbag!”
Serena
“Waah! That hurt.”
Sammy
“You're such a vacant dweeb, Serena!”
(She gets up and rushes to her brother.)
Serena
“Gimme that!”

Sammy
“Gee. Hey, you're welcome.”
(He runs off to his school. Serena gives him a raspberry.)
Sammy
“Pumpmeister.”
Serena
“Who thought up the idea of little brothers anyway?!”
(She hurries to school.)
Serena
“Now I'm in for detention for sure!”
(From atop Serena's house, Luna and Artemis talk with each other.)
Luna
“That's the same girl who defeated Queen Beryl and the Negaverse. Hard to believe, isn't
it, Artemis?”
Artemis
“Yeah, she can be a normal kid now that the Negaverse is behind us.”
Luna
“Let's hope so.”

(Unfortunately, this new peace won't last. That night, Serena is mumbling in her sleep…)
Serena
“Sure, I can eat fiber, but some of these, no problem.”
(…when a brilliant flash of light shines into her bedroom. Luna wakes up and meows in distress. The meowing
wakes up Serena.)
Serena
“What's going on? Is it morning?”
(Something weird is on its way straight to Earth. It impacts explosively on a parking lot near Serena's house and
shakes up the whole neighborhood.)
Serena
“YIKES! IT'S AN EARTHQUAKE! AAAAAH!”
(She hides under her blanket. Luna is terribly worried.)

(Whatever it is that hit, it's no meteor. It's green and totally weird. What's this? It's glowing. Now it's starting to
move. It's oozing along like a blob. Then, it floats into the air…and leaves.)

(It heads for a nearby apartment complex. Locating an empty apartment, it glows once again. Then, it sends
flashes of light throughout the apartment.)

(Minutes later, everyone is taking a look at the crater left by the thing. Luna and Artemis are on the roof of a
nearby building.)
Artemis
“You think it was a meteor?”
Luna
“No. I've got a bad feeling about this, Artemis.”

Artemis
“Huh?”
(Amazingly, all the Sailor Scouts are there, but they have no memory of their former lives. Raye and Mina don't
recognize any of them, and Serena and Amy are just schoolmates.)
Amy
“Hi, Serena.”
Serena
“Huh? Hi, Amy. Big hole.”
Amy
“Big, all right.”
Serena
“Hey, why's a megagenius like you out rubbernecking?”
(Someone pushes Serena from behind.)
Serena
“AH! Hey, quit your shoving, will ya?!”
(It's Lita.)
Lita
“Hey, sorry. The crowd was pushing me from behind.”
Serena
“You're the new transfer student who always gets into fights.”
Lita
“Don't you ever mention that again.”
Serena
“Uh, yeah, right.”
(Something clicks in Serena's head.)
Serena
“Huh? What a weird feeling, like I used to know her before, but I can't remember where
from.”
“Weird.”
(She notices an ad under her foot.)
Serena
“Huh? What's this?”
(She picks it up and reads it.)
Serena
“Candy shop going out of business sale?! What an incredible oppurtunity!”
Darien
“Yeah, sure is, to turn into a humongous chocolate blimp.”
Serena
“Oh no. It's that annoying creep.”
(Oh yeah. Darien's here, and he's lost his memories of the past, too. Now, he's back to his original insulting self,
and Serena's feelings toward him have also reverted back to day one.)
Darien
“How's the empty meatball head?”
Serena
“Grr. Hey, the name's Serena. You got a memory block, you great big zero?”
Darien
“Guess you don't mind having a meatball body to go along with that meatball head o'
yours, huh?”
Serena
“It's not your business.”

Darien
“I guess you're right. So go pig.”
Serena
“AS IF!”

(Now, back to that apartment. The thing had carried two aliens on board, one male and one female. They have
since gotten out and are now surveying the scene from the apartment balcony.)
Alien Alan
“He he he. Queen Beryl was right about Earth.”
Alien Ann
“Hm, yes, it was worth coming all this way.”
Alien Alan
“There's plenty of energy for us to live off of.”
Alien Ann
“Oh Alan, finally we'll get energy to survive. We're safe, my love.”
Alien Alan
“Not yet. 'Member the Doom Tree? Let's hope it responds to the energy we're trying to
collect for it here.”
(She nods. Alan has a strange-looking flute.)
Alien Alan
“If it doesn't, we'll have to move on, but let's think positively, okay? We'll disguise
ourselves as a brother and sister and enroll in the local high school. No one will suspect
what we're up to.”
(He takes the flute and begins to play an eerie melody.)

(The next day, at school…)
Miss Haruna
“Boys and girls, I'd like you to welcome two new students who have just transferred to our
school: Alan and Ann Granger. They are brother and sister. Alan is in grade ten, and
Ann is in grade nine. I hope you'll all make them feel welcome.”
Students
“Yes, Miss Haruna.”
(Serena has instantly fallen for Alan.)
Serena
“What a hunky guy.”
Molly
“Yeah, he's really dreamy.”
Melvin
“Dreamy, shmeamy, but they look pretty smart. Maybe they'll join the Dissection Club.”
Serena & Molly
“Dissect yourself, Melvin.”
Melvin
“Huh?”
Molly
“Don't you just love his hair?”
Serena
“Just his hair? I love the whole package.”
(Ann joins the same class as Serena, Molly, and Melvin, and everyone's dying to learn about her.)

Melvin
“So you lived in France. Did you belong to a computer club and join the Internet?”
Ann
“No.”
Serena
“See, Melvin? She's not interested.”
Molly
“Hey, say something in French.”
Serena
“Yeah, yeah. It's such a romantic language.”
(Ann says something in a language that is decidedly NOT French.)
Ann
“Zabu zuyafa gleeu.”
Serena & Molly
“Huh?”
(Only because no one else can understand French is Ann able to get away with this.)
Molly
“What? That's some weird French.”
(Just then, some flute playing can be heard outside the classroom.)
Molly
“What lovely music.”
(Ann recognizes it right away.)

(It's Alan, playing the same eerie song from last night.)
Serena
“Yeah, it's beautiful. Romantic.”
Molly
“I love the flute.”
(Ann, however, is ticked.)
Ann
“Alan, that's the tune you play ONLY for me.”
(The song is attracting girls from all over the school, including Molly and Serena.)
Serena
“Ah…”
Serena & Molly
“Cool.”
(Melvin is getting very jealous.)
Melvin
“I can play the flute, too, you know?”
(One class he's not good in is music. He can't even play a recorder well. Fortunately, Molly steals the offensive
instrument and whacks him in the head with it.)
Melvin
“OW!”
Molly
“Get a life, Melvin!”
(Alan stops playing. He turns and gazes towards Molly and Serena.)

Molly
“Huh?”
Alan
“She's so lovely. I've never felt anything like this before in my entire life. Who are you?”
Molly
“Uh, are you talking to me?”
(Melvin gets up and stands in front of Molly.)
Melvin
“Molly's mine, hairball!”
Molly
“SCRAM, MELVIN!”
(But Alan is talking to Serena.)
Alan
“Allow me to introduce myself, my beloved. My name is Alan.”
Molly & Melvin
“Huh?”
(Serena goes all mushy. She screams in excitement.)
Serena
“OH!”
Alan
“Your beauty radiates from you like the scent from a rose. Please say I can play for you.”
Serena
“Play anything you like, hunkmeister.”
(He's about to play…when he sees Ann down the hall.)
Alan
“Huh?”
Ann
“Alan…”
(Uh oh…)
Alan
“Oh, Ann…”
Serena
“Something the matter?”
(Then, seeing Alan stare past them, everyone turns around.)
Molly, & Melvin
“Hey!”
Serena
“What?”
Ann
“Who are you playing for, Alan?”
Alan
“Well…”
Serena
“Oh?”
Alan
“No one.”
(And he walks away. Serena is puzzled by Ann's attitude.)

(After school, Ann and Alan discuss the little episode.)

Alan
“I don't believe you! You've gotta learn to control your jealousy, Ann. You could've ruined
everything.”
Ann
“YOU'RE the one who's out of control.”
Alan
“I know how you feel, Ann, but we're supposed to be brother and sister. We can't afford to
forget that.”
Ann
“You really like silly humans? I'd never stoop so low.”
(Her opinion changes in an instant, however, when she sees Darien passing by her, reading a book.)
Ann
“What a babe. I've never seen anything that handsome in all the Universe.”
(Not knowing of Ann's love at first sight, Alan is still talking.)
Alan
“You've got to believe me, Ann. I'm not interested at all in these weak human females.
It's only you…”
(Then he notices that Ann is gone.)
Alan
“Ann?”
(She's following Darien.)
Ann
“He's perfect. Completely perfect.”
(When Darien drops some books…)
Darien
“Oops.”
(…he kneels down to pick it up. Ann tries to approach, but suddenly, she grows weak. She can't concentrate.
She leans against a pole and falls to her knees, clutching at her chest and coughing.)
Ann
“Energy. I need energy.”
Alan
“Oh no. Ann…”
Ann
“I need to get back to the…Doom…Tree.”

(That night, Serena and Molly gossip on the phone.)
Molly
“It's the buzz all over school, Serena. The guy's gone on you.”
(Serena is in bed, screaming in excitement.)
Serena
“I can't believe this is happening! I can't help it if I'm beautiful. Anyway, there's one thing
for sure: Alan's a person of very romantic…”
(Luna is frustrated over two things: one, Serena is too downright noisy for her to sleep, and two, she can't do a
blasted thing about it.)
Luna
“Well, here we go again. Can't Serena think about anything besides boys and food? And
I've got a bad feeling about this one in particular. Oh, but why?”

(There's more to Ann and Alan's apartment than meets the eye. Hidden away in what's supposed to be Alan's
bedroom is a very odd room that looks like a spacescape. Within are Ann and Alan, back in their alien forms,
and a humongous tree. It's the Doom Tree, and Ann is stretched out on one of the its giant roots, unconscious.)
Alien Alan
“I wanna see Serena again, but I don't wanna hurt Ann. It's confusing.”
(As Alan plays his song, the Doom Tree glows, and a bud grows from the tree. It reaches over Ann and releases
a drop of energy. As it splashes over Ann, she is revitalized.)
Alien Alan
“Oh, that's what Ann needed: energy from the Doom Tree to revitalize her.”
(Revived, she jumps to where Alan is and sits beside him.)
Alien Ann
“I feel great.”
Alien Alan
“Ann, uh…”
(Then, the glow from the Doom Tree fades, and its leaves begin to wilt.)
Alien Ann
“Alan, the tree's withering! What's happening? Oh no!”
Alien Alan
“I don't know. I guess we're not giving it the right life energy to feed on.”
Alien Ann
“It can't die, Alan. If it dies, WE die!”
Alien Alan
“Don't worry, Ann. I'll take care of you. We have a whole planet full of life energy here.
Look. Minerals and plant life, and animals of all kinds, and…”
Alien Ann
“Stupid humans. Look how they waste it on dancing and romancing. Hah!”
Alien Alan
“We'll find the right kind of energy to keep the Doom Tree alive. On this vast planet, we'll
find it.”
(Alan pulls out a small deck of very special cards. They are the Cardians, their servants and energy-gatherers.
At Alan's summons, the Cardians will emerge from their cards to do Ann and Alan's bidding.)
Alien Alan
“Now, you choose the Cardian we can send to collect the energy we need. Your choice
will preserve our future.”
Alien Ann
“'Kay.”
(She makes her choice, and the card floats into the air.)
Alien Alan
“A flower, but flowers can be poisonous, even deadly.”
Alien Ann
“What the Doom Tree needs is the life energy of humans. They have the strongest
energy of all living things on this planet, especially the young girls.”
(That hits a nerve.)
Alien Alan
“The girls? Why them? Why not the boys?”
Alien Ann
“Alan…!”
(Ann is playing shrewd. No use arguing.)

Alien Alan
“Calm down, Ann. You'll get your way as usual.”
Alien Ann
“Ha ha. Oh Alan, you spoil me.”
(Alan stands up.)
Alien Alan
“Cardian, I command you, send forth our servant Vampeel!”
(Alan's flute has many special powers. Not only can it allow the Doom Tree to help them, but it can also summon
the Cardians. Vampeel emerges from her card.)
Vampeel
“Vampeel at your command.”

(Her orders: steal as much energy from humans as possible to revitalize the Doom Tree. A poor young lady is the
first victim, but it doesn't go unnoticed.)
Luna
“Huh?”
(Luna and Artemis are nearby, and they hear her scream.)
Vampeel
“Your energy is mine. Vampeel!”
(The cats arrive…too late. The lady is almost completely exhausted.)
Luna & Artemis
“Oh no.”
Artemis
“I don't like this.”
Luna
“Her energy's been sucked dry. Hate to say this, but it feels like the Negaverse.”
Artemis
“Got no choice. We must revive the Sailor Scouts.”
(Luna, however, is hesitant.)
Luna
“Do we have to, Artemis? They seem so happy being normal girls.”
Artemis
“I don't know, Luna. Maybe we can stop this thing ourselves.”
(Another scream. Vampeel has struck again.)
Luna & Artemis
“Huh?”

(This time, Vampeel has found a woman on the street, in front of Molly's house. Molly, still on the phone with
Serena, looks out.)
Molly
“Serena, hold on.”
Serena
“What's going on?”
(Vampeel looks up.)
Vampeel
“Vampeel.”

(Oh no! Vampeel's gonna go after Molly!)
Molly
“WHAT?!”
Serena
“What's happening, Molly?”
Vampeel
“Hah!”
(Vampeel floats up to Molly's bedroom window.)
Vampeel
“Your energy's mine. Vampeel!”
(Her right hand is a flower. It opens. Molly is still holding the phone.)
Molly
“Oh, please, no!”
(Snares in the shoot out and snare Molly, making her drop the phone.)
Serena
“Molly, stop fooling around! What's happening?! Molly?”
(Vampeel's already draining Molly's energy.)
Vampeel
“Vampeel.”
Molly
“Feel so…weak…”
(Luna and Artemis jump in.)
Artemis
“Is that a plant?”
(Vampeel turns to see the cats.)
Luna
“It's some kind of weird plant. More like a noxious weed sucking the life out of Molly.”
Artemis
“This weed's getting eradicated!”
(Artemis jumps at Vampeel.)
Vampeel
“Vampeel!”
(She bats the cat away with her free arm. He lands on the floor, jumps again, and gets batted away again.)
Luna
“Artemis…”
(This time, Luna jumps.)
Luna
“You're compost, pal!”
(Having finished with Molly, Vampeel aims her snares.)
Vampeel
“Vampeel!”
(Artemis quickly bumps Luna out of the air and out of the way of the snares.)
Luna
“This is no good.”
Vampeel
“Vampeel.”

Artemis
“Yeah, bad weeds ARE always hard to get rid of.”
Luna
“But Artemis, this one's way too strong.”
(Suddenly, from downstairs…)
Serena
“Molly, you all right?”
Vampeel
“Vampeel.”
(Serena, having lost touch with Molly, had rushed over.)

(She's halfway up the stairs, with Molly's mother behind her.)
Mrs. Baker
“What's wrong?”
Serena
“We were yakking. Something happened.”
(In Molly's room…)
Luna
“Serena!”
(Serena opens the door.)
Serena
“Molly?”
(Both she and Mrs. Baker get a shock to see Vampeel in the room.)
Serena
“A monster! What is it?!”
(Molly's mother faints, leaving Serena alone with Vampeel.)
Serena
“It's a nightmare, right? It isn't happening.”
Luna
“Run, Serena! Run for your life, Serena!”
(This is a renewed shock to Serena.)
Serena
“Now my cat is talking. Reality check. Talking cat. Yucky flower monster. It's gotta be
that third piece of rhubarb pie! This is a dream! I can take control of it!”
Luna
“Uh oh.”
Serena
“Hey you, Miss Flower Power, keep your icky petals to yourself because if you don't, I will
punish you.”
(Huh? This and her motions ring a bell.)
Serena
“'Punish you?' Hey, why does that sound so familiar?”
(Another memory is clicking in her head.)
Luna
“Serena!”

(Too late.)
Vampeel
“Vampeel! Your energy's mine.”
(Serena is snared, but Luna jumps.)
Luna
“Hey!”
(Vampeel bats her away, then drains Serena's energy.)
Serena
“I'm feelin so weak. What's that ugly house plant doing to me? This has gotta be more
than the rhubarb.”
(Luna grits her teeth and struggles to get up.)
Luna
“Serena…”
(Artemis manages to jump on Vampeel and claw at her, making her let go. Then he gets batted away again.)
Artemis
“Come on, weed-breath!”
(He jumps out the window, Vampeel right behind.)
Vampeel
“Vampeel!”
Luna
“No, Artemis!”
(Though weak, Serena isn't totally drained.)
Serena
“This dream's the pits.”
Luna
“Artemis…”
Serena
“I want…I want outtie.”
Luna
“I've got to do something. That monster won't stop until it's drained all the energy from
everybody on earth.”
(She doesn't want to do it, but there isn't a choice. Sailor Moon must be called back into action.)
Luna
“There's only one way left. I must revive Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon, wake up!”
(Serena isn't responsing.)
Luna
“There no other choice. The Luna Mind Meld.”

(The crescent moons on both their foreheads glow, and a mind link is established.)
Luna
“Okay, here it comes. The Luna Mind Meld.”
(Only Luna and Artemis have any memory of the Sailor Scouts' former lives, and now, Luna shares those
memories with Serena. This causes Serenas own memories of her past to return. The fateful battle with Queen
Beryl. The ancient romance with Prince Darien.)
Serena
“Who am I, anyway?”

(Then, Serena realizes…)
Serena
“No. No, Luna. No more fighting, please. I just want…I just want to be a normal
teenager, just an ordinary girl.”
(The Mind Meld is complete.)
Luna
“Serena? Serena?”
(Serena remembers.)
Serena
“Luna. Now we can have all our conversations again.”
Luna
“Serena. So your memory has come back.”
(Serena nods.)
Luna
“The Negaverse has returned. Transform! Become Sailor Moon!”
(She gets up and nods.)
Serena
“MOON PRISM POWER!”
(Serena transforms. Sailor Moon is back in action!)

(Meanwhile, Artemis is not faring too well.)
Vampeel
“Vampeel.”
(He gets batted away again. Vampeel has had enough.)
Vampeel
“You're plant fertilizer now, cat. Vampeel!”
Artemis
“No!”
(She begins to drain Artemis's energy!)
Vampeel
“Vampeel.”
Artemis
“No! Let…me go. Stop it.”
Vampeel
“Vampeel.”
Artemis
“So weak. Can't fight it…”
(He collapses.)
Sailor Moon
“The fun's over, weed-face!”
(She turns. On top of a building is a very angry Sailor Moon.)
Sailor Moon
“All I ever wanted was to be a normal teenager! Because of you, that's all over, and
you're gonna pay for that, pal! You're going to the compost heap!”

(What's this? A new threat?)
Vampeel
“Vampeel.”
Sailor Moon
“In the name of the Moon, I will punish you! I'm Sailor Moon! I will triumph over evil!
That's you, green-waste!”
(Vampeel lets go of Artemis…)
Vampeel
“Vampeel!”
(…and tries to snare Sailor Moon, but she jumps out of the way. Time after time, Vampeel misses her target…)
Sailor Moon
“Ooh, I hate this part.”
(…until she snares Sailor Moon's ankle.)
Vampeel
“Ha ha ha ha ha.”
(She begins to drain Sailor Moon's energy.)
Luna
“SAILOR MOON!”
Sailor Moon
“I'm getting weak. I can't…”
Vampeel
“Vampeel. Now we'll see who's going to the compost heap.”
(The flower that's Vampeel's right hand makes an orifice. As Sailor Moon struggles to reach her tiara, the flower
snakes down the line, heading for her.)
Luna
“I'm coming, Sailor Moon! I'm coming!”
(Luna latches onto Vampeel's arm, making her let go of Sailor Moon.)
Sailor Moon
“Nice work, Luna. I'll take it from here.”
(Now, she's able to use her Moon Tiara.)
Sailor Moon
“MOON TIARA MAGIC!”
(The tiara connects. Vampeel disappears, reverting back into the card.)
Sailor Moon
“You just got weed-whacked, courtesy of Sailor Moon!”
(The card drops to the ground. Defeated, the energy in the card is realeased. It fades to black and becomes
harmless.)
Sailor Moon
“Huh?”

“What happened?”

(Back at the scene, Artemis regains consciousness.)

“Feeling better, guys?”

“Ah, poor kitty.”
Alien Alan
“Hey. Sailor Moon.”

“Right, that's…”
(She gets a shock when she sees images of the aliens.)
Sailor Moon
“What?”
Alien Alan
“We never imagined there'd be somebody like you on our planet.”
Sailor Moon
“YOUR planet?! Wait a second!”
Alien Alan
“You heard me. It's our planet now, got it?”
Alien Ann
“Get used to it, brat.”
Sailor Moon
“You're the ones who sent that yucky poison ivy, aren't ya?”
Alien Ann
“Ha ha ha. Just our way of getting acquainted.”
Alien Alan
“See ya again, Sailor Moon. Ha ha ha.”
(Their images disappear.)
Luna
“I'm glad you're back, Sailor Moon.”
Sailor Moon
“Yeah, me too, I guess.”

“No more shopping, pigging out, mall trowling, and dreaming about guys, huh, Luna?”
