A major promotion this summer of the best emerging new and unsigned UK bands.
The aim of Artist Rising is to get behind a number of promising new and unsigned
bands and afford them opportunities at high-profile events to help gain media and
industry exposure. This involves:
? Discovering and developing new UK talent
? Releasing compilation CDs through Virgin Megastores: July 4th/Sept 26
? Live gigs, tours, and festival slots across the Summer
? In The City showcases
The promotion will see CD releases, festival slots and gigging possibilities for new
bands across the UK. The bands will also be mentored and helped develop over the
summer, culminating in playing at UK music industry convention In The City in
Manchester in September. In the one of largest ever retail support for unsigned
bands, June 20 sees Virgin Megastores promote two music compilation CDs with
listening posts, rack stands and in store appearances.
Artists on 1st CD (Amusement Parks on Fire, People in Planes, Metro Riots, Mohair,
Vib Gyor, Fleeing New York, Crash Convention, Republic Of Loose, The Girls,
Absent Kid, Amateur Guitar Anti Heroes, Casino, Breakmakers, Darren Plant,
Degrassi, The Sound Explosion, Peace Burial At Sea, Steranko, Lazenby, Dustbins
Bar Mitvah, The Fairies). Artist Rising Compilation CD II will feature acts that TBA
and VF Discoveries uncover across the promotional campaign.
Gigs and Tours: plus regional album launches with tours and gig swaps between
the bands in many major cites
Festival stages / slots where TBA and Virtual Festivals are involved: Get Loaded,
Glastonbury Leftfield stage, Bestival, Download, TDK, Beautiful Days and Guilfest.
In The City: TBA has run Break ITC event over the last few years where 2004 saw
the launch of Artists Rising with 100 bands and DJS play. Bands since have been
signed to major and indie labels and some have had top 10 hits (The Subways,
British Beef, Freefaller, Dear Eskiimo)

Dustins Bar Mitzvah ā London - recorded session with John Kennedy have
received many plays on BBC radio 1 FROM Steve Lamaq, Rob da bank and Alan
Mcgee and last month were interviewed by Steve Lamaq for his ānew favourite bandā
section. The band have also won Zane Lowe's 'Fresh Meat' competition on Radio 1
