Victoria, B.C. July 19, 1999 - Kelso Music and PG Music Inc. are proud to announce the release of Oscar
Peterson Note-forNote, a tribute and treasury exploring the peerless genius of legendary Jazz pianist Oscar
Peterson in a piano music book of more than 200 pages, complete with an 8-track audio CD.
Transcriptions of Oscar Peterson's jazz piano performances are understandably rare. The incomparable virtuosity
of this legendary jazz talent presents a daunting challenge to any copyist seeking to render his live performances
"note-for-note". Gifted jazz pianist Miles Black has proven equal to the challenge in Oscar Peterson Note-for-Note,
an authorized volume of 18 full-length transcriptions, all taken directly from original recordings and all personally
approved by Oscar Peterson.
Oscar Peterson is a brilliant jazz composer, as well as an award- winning writer of music for film and television.
Oscar Peterson Note-for-Note includes eight of his original compositions, among them three selections from the
landmark Canadiana Suite, and the stirring civil rights anthem Hymn to Freedom.
